August 27 - Krakatoa Explodes
On August 27, 1883, Krakatoa in Indonesia exploded. 13 % of the earth's surface vibrated, and eardrums of hundreds of people on board ships in the Sea were instantly shattered. There were a total of four explosions from the volcano, and recordings show that the shockwave from the last explosion reverberated around the globe seven times in total.
